Hello again.

En esta ocasión os muestro dos viajes. El primero a los Embalses de Pedrezuela y Santillana y el segundo al Parque Nacional la Sierra de Guadarrama y, en éste último, finalizamos la excursión en el Embalse de Santillana pues el cliente no había visto tarros canelo (Tadorna ferruginea) y de la que regresábamos pasamos por el embalse a probar suerte.

This time I show you two trips. The first to the Reservoirs of Santillana and Pedrezuela and the second to Guadarrama National Park and in this one, we ended the tour at the Embalse de Santillana because the customer had not seen Ruddy Shelduck and while we were returning we stopped to see if they were there.

PRIMER VIAJE:

FIRST TRIP:

Había leído que en el Embalse de Santillana se estaba viendo un macho de porrón bastardo (Aythya marila) y decidí pasarme por él a ver si le veíamos pues hay muy pocas oportunidades de ver esta especie en la Comunidad de Madrid.

I had read that in Santillana Reservoir it was been seeing a male of Greater Scaup and I decided to stop at it to see if we were able to spot it as there are very few opportunities to see this specie in the Community of Madrid.

El día fue muy frío y ventoso pero al final se arreglo un poco.

The day was very cold and windy but in the end it improved a little bit.

Al poco rato de llegar localizamos al porrón bastardo (Aythya marila) que estaba en compañía de una hembra de porrón europeo (Aythya ferina). Aunque estuvimos bastante tiempo el bastardo no se nos acerco casi nada y no pude obtener mejores fotos.

Just after arriving we locate the Greater Scaup accompanied by a female of Common Pochard. Although we wait for some time the Duck did not approached enought to take better photos.

También disfrutamos con la presencia de esta águila pescadora (Pandion haliaetus) que estaba de paso migratorio hacia el norte.

We also enjoyed with the presence of this Osprey which was migrating northward.

Por los alrededores del embalse también vimos bisbita pratense (Anthus pratensis).

By the surroundings of the Reservoir we also saw Meadow Pipit.

Muchas currucas capirotadas (Sylvia atricapilla) en paso migratorio. En la foto una hembra.

Un macho.

A male.

Ya en el Embalse de Santillana vimos varios somormujos lavancos (Podiceps cristatus).

Already at the Reservoir of Santillana we saw several Great Crested Grebes.

Y también zampullines cuellinegros (Podiceps nigricollis). Fijaos en el reflejo.

And also Black-necked Grebes. Pay attention at its reflection.

Macho de pinzón vulgar (Fringilla coelebs).

Male of Common Chaffinch.

Macho anillado de escribano soteño (Emberiza cirlus).

Riged male of Cirl Bunting.

Female.

Y disfrutamos mucho con una pareja de picos menores (Dendrocopos minor).

And we really enjoyed with a couple of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker.

El macho es el que tiene el píleo rojo.

The male is the one with the red pileus.

La hembra que aunque era más tímida también la vimos a placer.

The female although she was shyer we also could watch her very well.

Una pareja de trepadores azules (Sitta europaea) se enfadaban mucho cuando los picos menores (Dendrocopos minor) entraban en su territorio.

A pair of European Nuthatches got angry whenever the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker invaded their territory.

Estaban construyendo su nido.

They were building their nest.

Agateador común (Certhia brachydactyla).

Short-toed Treecreeper.

Y cuando regresábamos a Madrid vimos esta pareja de tarros canelo (Tadorna ferruginea). El macho es el que está a la derecha.

And when we were returning to Madrid we saw this couple Ruddy shelducks. The male is the one on the right.

Y se les unió este ganso del Nilo (Alopochen aegyptiaca). A ambas especies se las considera invasoras.

And they were joined by this Egyptian Goose. Both species are considered invasive.

SEGUNDO VIAJE:

SECOND TRIP:

En esta ocasión el viaje era al Parque Nacional de Guadarrama pues como primer objetivo teníamos el ver a los verderones serranos (Serinus citrinella).

This time the trip was to Sierra de Guadarrama National Park as our first objective was to observe the Citril Finch.

En esta ocasión el tiempo fue soleado y caluroso para la época del año que era.

This time the weather was sunny and warm for this time of the year.

Un éxito rotundo pues el día era de verderones serranos (Serinus citrinella). Vimos muchos y algunos muy cerca.

A great success because the day was of Citril Finches. We saw many and some very close.

Preciosas aves.

Beautiful Birds.

Había acentores comunes (Prunella modularis) por todos lados y en pleno celo.

There were Dunnocks everywhere and in heat.

Solo pudimos observar unos pocos piquituertos comunes (Loxia curvirostra).

We could only observe a few Common Crossbills.

Macho de colirrojo tizón (Phoenicurus ochruros).

En esta especie las hembras también cantan.

In this species females also sing.

Y con mucha potencia.

And with great power.

Reyezuelo listado (Regulus ignicapilla).

Firecrest.

Herrerillo capuchino (Lophophanes cristatus).

Crested Tit.

Los azafranes serranos (Crocus carpetanus) estaban en flor.

The mountain crocuses were in bloom.

Y también había muchos narcisos de roca (Narcissus rupicola).

And there were many Wild Daffodils.

Hembra de tarabilla europea (Saxicola rubicola).

Female of Common Stonechat.

Escribano montesino (Emberiza cia).

Rock Bunting.

Macho de collalba gris (Oenanthe oenanthe).

Male of Northern Wheatear.

Pardillo común (Carduelis cannabina).

Common Linnet.

Y había un grupo de unas veinte cabras monteses (Capra pyrenaica).

And there was a group of about twenty Iberian Ibexes.

Aguila calzada (Aquila pennata) fase clara.

Booted Eagle white phase.

Mosquitero papialbo (Phylloscopus bonelli).

Western Bonelli's Warbler.

Lavandera blanca (Motacilla alba).

White Wagtail.

Golondrina común (Hirundo rustica).

Barn Swallow.

Y como fin del viaje pasé por el Embalse de Santillana a probar suerte con los tarros canelo (Tadorna ferruginea) que al estar más cerca y con mejor luz la foto es mejor que la que obtuve en el viaje anterior.

And as end of the trip I pass by the Santillana Reservoir to try luck with the Rruddy Shelducks that as they were closer and light was better this photo is nicer than that obtained in the previous trip.
