Esta semana os muestro algunas de las aves que vimos en un viaje reciente a la laguna de La Nava que está situada en la provincia de Palencia.

This week I show you some of the birds that we saw on a recent trip to La Nava Lagoon located in the province of Palencia.

El tiempo fue muy bueno y no tuvimos nada de niebla ni mucho frío.

Weather was very good and we did not have fog nor cold.

Aguilucho lagunero occidental (Circus aeruginosus).
Eurasian Marsh Harrier.

Escribano triguero (Miliaria calandra).
Corn Bunting.

Macho de verderón común (Carduelis chloris).
Male of Greenfinch.

En el centro se puede ver a un macho de silbón europeo (Anas penelope) entre cercetas comunes (Anas crecca) que había bastantes pero demasiado lejos.
In the center you can see a male Eurasian Wigeon among Common Teals that there were plenty but too far.

Vimos varios grupos de jabalíes (Sus scrofa).
We saw several herds of Wild Boars.

Este rascón europeo (Rallus aquaticus) estaba muy confiado con lo esquivos que suelen ser.
This Water Rail was very tame wich is veri uncommon in this specie.

Al medio día empezaron a llegar a la laguna ánsares comunes (Anser anser) y en uno de los grupos vinieron 7 ánsares caretos (Anser albifrons). Algunos de ellos se pueden ver en esta foto.
At midday Greylag Geese began to arrive to the Lagoon and in one of the groups they came 7 White-fronted Geese. Some of them can be seen in this photo.

En esta otra se ven bastantee mejor cuatro de ellos. Son los que tienen blanco en la frente.
In this other pic you can see four of them better. They are the ones that have white on its front.

Un macho de cernícalo vulgar (Falco tinnunculus) se comió un topillo (Microtus arvalis) muy cerca de donde estábamos.
A male of common Kestrel ate a Common Vole very close to where we were.

Vimos muchos.
We saw many.

Un grupo de garcetas grandes (Egretta alba).
A group of Great White Egret.

Después de beber, bañarse y descansar un rato en la laguna los ánsares comunes (Anser anser) regresaron a los campos para seguir alimentándose.
Soon after drinking, bathing and resting for a while in the Lagoon the Greylag Geese returned to fields to continue feeding.

Este macho de aguilucho pálido (Circus cyaneus) nos hizo pasar un rato inolvidable.
This male of Hen Harrier made us spend an unforgettable moment.

Después de varios intentos al final decidió darse un buen baño.
After several attempts, at the end he decided to take a good bath.

Y los ánsares comunes (Anser anser) continuaban saliendo pero ya en bandos más pequeños.
And Greylag Geese still coming out but in smaller flocks.

Tarro blanco (Tadorna tadorna).
Common Shelduck.

Ánades frisos (Anas strepera).
Gadwalls.

Cuchara común (Anas clypeata).
Northern Shoveler.

Cigüeña blanca (Ciconia ciconia).
White Stork.

Después de que los ánsares saliesen a comer decidimos dar un recorrido por los campos cercanos. En la foto un milano real (Milvus milvus) de los muchos que vimos.
While Geese were eating we decided to take a tour of the nearby fields. In the photo a Red Kite of the many we saw.

Pero sin duda el ave rapaz más abundante en este día fue el busardo ratonero (Buteo buteo). 
But certainly the most abundant Bird of Prey on this day was the Common Buzzard. 

Una grata sorpresa que fue difícil de ver.
A pleasant surprise that was difficult to spot.

Un búho campestre (Asio flammeus) escondido en la maleza. Ahora se le puede ver más facilmente.

A Short-eared Owl hiding in the undergrowth. Now it can be seen easily.

Y al atardecer regresamos a la laguna para disfrutar con el espectáculo del retorno de los ánsares comunes (Anser anser).
And in the evening we return to the Lagoon to enjoy the spectacle of the return of the Greylag Geese.
